Size: 180 x 230cm / Material: wool / Handwoven / One of a kind
Region: Beni Yaacoub Tribe
Age: Approximately 60 years
This rug is part of a special selection of vintage and antique Berber rugs originating from the Atlas Mountains and traditional handcraft regions of Morocco. The Nouvelle Nomad collection features some incredible rare and beautifully aged pieces from the Boujaad, Rahamna, Beni Yaacoub and Bousbaa tribes. Beautifully preserved pieces of this age are becoming rarer as time goes on, and are characterised by their natural sheep or goats wool borders and end tassels.
Nouvelle Nomad rugs and textiles are authentic vintage finds, or crafted from vintage textiles. Due to their handwoven and unique nature - irregularities in shape and colour, and signs of wear and age must be expected, and are what add to their beauty, character and value.
The sourcing and restoration process is a slow and skilful one. Our rugs are hand washed and repaired in Morocco before being shipped to our Australian showroom or their new homes around the world. Any restorations required are done by hand by skilled artisans in the traditional methods and with materials to best suit the treasure and its origins.
Care For Your Vintage Rug: Rugs should be vacuumed regularly, and can be hung outside in the sunshine and fresh air to freshen them up and get rid of any loose dirt. We recommend only ever using mild soapy water to spot clean your carpet. Chemical cleaners and vintage textiles are definitely not friends - so keep cleaning simple and to the basics.
The delicate wool and natural dyes are colour fast but will fade over time in direct sunlight, and with usual wear and age. So please keep this in mind when choosing it's positioning in your home.
Carpet Underlay and Rug Pads: If you're placing your rug on floor boards or a tiled surface we recommend placing a non slip rug pad for underneath your carpet.
